For the first time since 1986, the United States will host soccer games on the global stage. The World Cup is coming to North America, and as the summer approaches, the excitement around the world grows. Eleven cities around the U.S. will host pivotal games in this epic contest, those being headlined by Los Angeles, Miami, and right here in Atlanta. The demand for these tickets is at an all-time high, with ticket prices for key matches in the States soaring into the tens of thousands of dollars range. However, these insane prices aren’t holding fans back as all of these matches are expected to be sold out with elite intensity throughout the crowd. Along with the United States hosting matches, there are five other host cities in North America. The main locations are Mexico City, Toronto, and Vancouver. Real World Cup matches don’t actually begin until June 11, but there are friendly matches between some of the most popular countries leading up to then. The World Cup final will occur a little over a month after the start date on July 19 and should feature two incredible teams with some of the most passionate fans, making for a spectacular match. This final match will be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey before sold-out crowds and broadcast worldwide. The defending champions, Argentina, will kick off their repeat run against Jordan, with their lineup potentially being loaded with all-time greats like Lionel Messi, although he hasn’t yet fully committed to the tournament. France, which was on the other side of one of the greatest matches of all time, losing in penalties to Argentina last year, is surely looking to redeem their tragic loss. They believe that their starting eleven is as good as any, with their superstar and leader being forward, Kylian Mbappe. As the global phenomenon approaches, people’s excitement will only grow, so expect ticket prices and demand to grow even more over time. With all of this in mind, the soccer scene across the United States could grow exponentially with a renewed emphasis on the importance of the sport to other countries around the world.
