Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, re-visit some favorite rom-coms from the past few years.

“How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” is a fan favorite starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. This movie is different from a normal romantic comedy because the couple makes two very contradictory bets about each other. The girl wants to lose the guy, and the guy promises to stay with the girl no matter what. The two grow closer even though one is trying to push the other away, revealing the power of love and the Valentine’s Day spirit.

“Anyone but You” is the most recent received in the rom-com world. Released on Dec. 22 of last year, the film already has excellent reviews. This movie tells the story of a boy, Ben, and Bea, who connect one night, but they are separated under bad circumstances. Everything changes when they find themselves at the same wedding one weekend. This movie shows how Ben and Bea give each other a second chance after their first impressions.

“He’s Just Not That Into You” is another rom-com, but this one shows many different stories of different couples, starting with a girl at a bar on a date. Throughout the movie, you can find that all of the stories are connected in a way and that love can happen in so many different situations. This movie puts its own spin on a rom-com by having many different stories that connect at the end in unexpected ways.

“10 Things I Hate About You” is another popular rom-com and tells a story of high school relationships and how they grow. The main conflict in this movie involves a boy placing a bet on a girl going out with him. This movie appeals to the audience because of its roller-coaster storyline watching the relationship evolve and what secrets are revealed.
