The Major League Baseball playoffs have rolled around once again. Ten teams, five from the National League and five from the American league make up the MLB playoffs and turn the fall into an exciting time for baseball fans. The Philadelphia Phillies are ESPN’s favorites to win the world series and are coming from the National League East which is the same division as the hometown team, the Atlanta Braves. Although the Phillies are favorites they did not earn the one seed in their league, that title belongs to the Milwaukee Brewers who ended the season with a 97-65 record. The one seed in the American League is the Toronto Blue Jays who ended the 2025 season with a 94-68 record. There are four rounds in the MLB playoffs with each one seed in their league receiving a first round bye. The baseball world comes together to enjoy the MLB playoffs and each round of the playoffs attract more and more viewers making baseball and the MLB one of the most viewed sports in America. Since baseball has a 162 game season it is hard for the everyday fan to keep up with their favorite team every game. The playoffs provide a perfect opportunity to dial in and invest in your local team’s deep playoff run. “The MLB playoffs are so much better than the regular season because I can watch every game with my dad and root on my Phillies to a world series win,” said sophomore Owen Peretz. Owen is not alone as tons of fans prioritize the playoffs over the regular season. In 2024 the average regular season MLB game had 1.5-2 million viewers but in the 2024 playoffs each game drew 3-4 millions viewers on average but some games even eclipsed over 5 million viewers. While the local team, the Braves, missed the playoffs for the first time since 2017 our pace community is still invested in the MLB playoffs. Baseball is one of America’s most popular sports and as the playoffs arrive MLB fandom increases greatly particularly at Pace where baseball is one of the most common past times.

Citizens Bank Park fills with Phillies fans to cheer on their playoff run.
