Dear Granny Knight,

I am struggling to find a clique to join in school. Everyone already seems to know their place in school. They all have little circles of friends. I am scared to talk to someone. What if people are mean? What if I’m excluded? Help me please!

From, Friend Fiasco

Dear Friend Fiasco,

It can be hard to find a place in middle school. From the outside looking in, it seems as if everyone already has their circle of friends, and that can be really intimidating. Remember that you aren’t the only one feeling this way! It is normal in middle school to be searching, growing, and figuring out who you are and who you want to be friends with.

My wise advice would be to try making friends with people from all different “cliques”, instead of just finding one “clique” to join. Start with finding people who share your interests, and invest in friendships that uplift you, inspire you, and are positive forces in your life.

Never change who you are for anyone EVER! After all, it doesn’t matter what they think of you, just be kind to people (as hard as it may be) and most likely, people will be nice in return. Good Luck!

Yours Truly,
