This month’s dog breed is the Chihuahua. Originating from Mexico, chihuahuas are a type of small dog, who are super energetic and confident. They can be hard to train, but usually aren’t too much work and will follow commands once taught. Their coats come in many different colors and can be long or short. Typically, they are short, meaning they have smooth short hairs. A long coat is when fur can be so long, and can even reach the floor. If a Chihuahua has a short coat, they will have a protective layer of fur under their first coat. Chihuahuas’ average life span is 14-16 years.

After doing some research about the breed, my friend and I, Annabelle, interviewed Mr. Tarvin with his dog, Pickles. Pickles is a Chihuahua-Yorkie mix.

We started out by asking Mr. Tarvin some basic questions about Pickles. Here’s what we learned:

Pickles is a 7/8-month-old dog with a lot of energy. He likes any toy that he can chew. Pickles doesn’t get fed human food, but he will occasionally find scraps on the floor and eat them. Pickles is a mix, but he shares lots of similarities with a regular Chihuahua. If you ever see Pickles with Mr. Tarvin, say hi! (Pickles is adorable)
