How much do you really love your pet? Enough to eat their food to make sure it is top quality? There are really people out there who eat pet food for a living. Some people can even make as much as $100,000.
The criteria for perfect pet food varies from company to company, but it usually boils down to three criteria:
1. Is it healthy?
To answer this question, you need to be pretty well educated in health and science. The main part of the job is actually testing the food as opposed to the tasting of it.
2. Does it taste good?
For this, you have to know not what you think tastes good, but what your pet would think tastes good. If the pet food taster thinks it tastes terrible, then there is a good chance the dog will too. We can guess this is the case because the opposite is often true – many dogs love to have food off their owner’s plates.
3. Does it smell good?
At first, this might seem like a slightly odd question, but would you really want terrible-smelling kibble stinking up your house? Also, if it really doesn’t smell good, your pet might not even eat it.
This is what it takes to be a professional pet food tester. While this profession might be important, it might not be the most, well, delectable.
