Pace Academy’s Associate ICGL Director, better known as Mr. Ted Ward, started off his career as a teacher of middle and high schoolers for a total of six years. He began to have an interest in community engagement in high school after being introduced to it by a friend’s mom. He started tutoring during that summer as his first act of community engagement. He loved the experience because he was able to work with and learn from communities he had not engaged with before.
After teaching at schools, he began working at The Center for Civil and Human Rights. He worked there for a total of two years. While working there, he worked with many different Atlanta schools, including Pace Academy, in teaching them the importance of human rights.
Mr. Ward organizes memorable study tours, field trips, and oversees Pace’s community engagement. Mr. Ward finds new ways to interest students in the Lower, Middle, and Upper schools. He provides buses for many of the community engagement trips, making it more accessible for students and parents. He also organizes other ways of community engagement for Middle schoolers, helping them achieve their fifteen hour service requirement by the end of their Middle school careers.
He says his approach to learning is that, “You are never done learning!” We are truly honored to have such an amazing educator at Pace Academy.
