We were curious on the newspaper club about swimming in PE. Should PE Swimming happen in the Winter? Should it happen at all?
We asked two students about their take on PE swimming: Hailey Huang, a seventh grade swimmer and runner, and Ansley Cochran, a 6th grade track and cross country runner.
What do you think about PE swimming?
It depends on what we do. Water polo is fun and I like regular swimming because it’s not running. – Hailey
It’s fun when playing games, but when swimming laps it is not. The changing process is short and gross because the floors are wet. – Ansley
Is swimming hard in the winter because of the cold?
Kind of, but you get used to it. – Hailey
It hasn’t been super cold, but yesterday it was freezing when going outside. – Ansley
For people with long hair such as yourself, is it difficult to get ready in a short period of time?
Yes. If you don’t have a cap, your hair gets tangly and rips out when trying to brush. I know this because one of my friends doesn’t use a cap. – Hailey
For me, it depends on what I’m wearing, sometimes if you’re wearing leggings like my friends it is a big pain to get dressed. – Ansle
So you’ve heard two sides of the story, but what do you think? Should we have PE Swimming in the Winter?
