Hailey Huang
Hi, I’m Hailey, and I will be trying a recipe for homemade noodles! With my cooking skills being limited to making burnt hot chocolate at newspaper, which was “too hot”, this seems surprisingly simple. You only need 4 ingredients, Flour, Eggs, Salt, and Olive oil.
The recipe that I’m using (https://www.loveandlemons.com/homemade-pasta-recipe/), but I will be tweaking it a bit because I can’t find our pasta maker, and im 1/3ing the recipe.
Day 2: Actually Cooking
Let’s start cooking now,
- I’m making a flour well, with egg, olive oil, and salt, then gently joining the flour and egg.
- Then I kneaded the dough for 10 minutes until it turns out like this, I had to add a bit of water because it was too dry:
- Form the dough into a ball, and wrap plastic wrap, then set it aside for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Now, this is the confusing part, first roll out the dough into a long rectangle, then fold it into an accordion shape and cut it horizontally
- Then carefully unravel them, since mine are a bit thick I’m going to press them out. (I reshaped them after the picture)
- Finally, bring a pot of water to a boil, and cook until al dente!
- I’m serving it with pesto and a bit of butter.
I think this recipe was super fun and easier than I thought, and took in total a bit over an hour to make. It tasted okay, a bit thick and hard to chew though, I’d probably next time use a pasta maker.
Okay, final question, Would I recommend you try it?. Yes, if you want to have fun and have a meal at the end, but if you want easy food, stick to the boxed pasta.
