Finishing that and being able to hand it out to the seniors with their college map and senior predictions, that was really special and honestly that was the most difficult edition we’ve done.

Brian Silverboard: I’m most proud of the Newspaper getting the Superior ranking from the Georgia scholastic press association because it confirmed my confidence in the work we put into the Newspaper this year.

Hayes Pollard: Yeah y’all killed it.

Etan Gerber: I’m proud of how we’ve finished editions and met difficult deadlines. We didn’t have Mrs. Neiley here to help with the first edition but we still were able to get it done.

HP: Awesome! Next I want to know, what’s one way that you hope the Newspaper and its members continue to grow and improve?

EG: I want to see more creative articles, those are always the ones that are the most interesting and turn out the best.

MK: I would like to see longer passion and interest articles where staff members focus on one topic and take a deep dive into that subject area. I would rather see one really good article from the staff than two shorter articles with less intention.

BS: I hope that Newspaper continues to be a collaborative and joyful environment where staff can share their interests with the rest of the Pace community.

EG: Fantastic answer Brian!

HP: Cool, what has been your favorite project that you have worked on in your time on Newspaper?

MK: Can I pick two?

HP: Of course!

MK: Firstly, I really enjoyed writing the student entrepreneurs article because I got to do a lot of really interesting interviews with Pace students and friends in my grade. I was glad that a lot of these students told me they were happy with how the article represented their club. I also really enjoyed working on the election spread because although it was really difficult it turned out great.

ET: The Past three years I’ve written an article about the haunted house Netherworld and I always enjoy going there every Halloween with some friends and reviewing it for the Newspaper.

BS: I really enjoyed finishing the year in review spread with Hayes Pollard —

HP: Great guy by the way, Hayes Pollard.

BS: Yeah, and it was a really difficult project but finishing it was very gratifying.

HP: Yes, and you and Hayes Pollard just worked together perfectly to produce that beautiful layout page. If your time as a Co-editor in Chief was a Headline, what would it be?

BS: Three sigmas take on the world together!

MK, EG, & HP: hahahahaha

MK: I got one, Seniors Restore Superior Legacy

HP: Yeah, I like this one!

EG: I would say, 2016 Chino Hills, 2020 Mt. Verd, 1996 Bulls, or 2025 Co-editors.

BS: Pass like Isiah, shoot like curry, dribble like Iverson, nah, edit like klingler, write like silverboard, and layout like Gerber.

HP: I like it, so y’all are one of the all time legacy teams.

EG: Yeah, we’re the lions!

HP: Finally, what’s that one piece of advice you would give to the incoming Co-editors in Chief?

EG: Just get ahead, participate in class, and enjoy the experience because it’s a really fun position.

MK: I think making a point to mentor this incoming class of sophomores and giving them advice and help on their writing and layout whenever they need help. I think that’s how the Newspaper club’s community is built.

BS: I like Megan. Share your passion and write about what you’re actually interested in because then you’ll work harder on your articles and enjoy the process more.

HP: Lastly, I want to ask ya’ll what is your favorite memory or moment from Newspaper?

MK: I would say our first story ideas day. I love the story ideas days because it feels like everyones talking and participating and when we turn off the lights and use the board it feels like a real story room that they have at big Newspapers like The New York Times.

EG: On my first day of Newspaper in sophomore year, a box of old newspaper shirts were in the room and Andrew Swan put all of them on and then he grabbed me and threw all the shirts over my head and suffocated me.

HP: And you liked that?

EG: No, I hated it and thought I was going to die. But it built character.

BS: My favorite memory was getting the second edition of the Newspaper printed this year because everything finally came together and all the hard work we put in paid off.

HP: Well from one generation to the next, thank you Co-editors.

As the current generation of Co-editors in Chief graduate, the upcoming generation of Co-editors in chief have interviewed them to reflect on their time both as Co-editors in chief and simply members of the Knightly News.
