The Pace community welcomes Ms. Brooke Hight as the new Head of the Lower School for the 2025-2026 school year. An Atlanta native and graduate of the University of Georgia, Ms. Hight joins the Pace faculty with a wealth of experience and a unique passion and love for working with students. Before arriving at Pace, Ms. Hight worked at Fowler Drive Elementary School, before working at the Lovett School, the Westminster Schools, and the Atlanta Speech School, where she currently serves as the Director of the Anne and Jim Kennan Preschool as well as a leader on the Leadership Cohort. She will begin her journey at Pace this upcoming fall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hight mentioned how she was draw to Pace from the second she was looking for a school for her son. \u201cAt that time, it was just for my son and so throughout the admissions process, it became clear that it was the right place for him\u2026 and now I\u2019ve had a year and a half as a parent and [have] fallen in love with the school\u2026 and now I\u2019m going to make it my professional home,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI really love the ICGL program. I think that\u2019s amazing as a faculty member and also as a parent. That’s a big piece and I feel like that’s one of the differentiating factors of Pace. Really nobody is doing that kind of a program like Pace does it.\u201d Additionally, Hight spoke about the unique mental welness program at Pace. \u201cI just think that it is so incredibly important and until we get children’s minds right, I don’t know how we can really get them academically ready. You’re not ready unless your mind is ready for that. I just really admire Pace for taking on that challenge. Finally, Hight spoke about how Pace has everything that someone could want. \u201cIt\u2019s just a fantastic school and just a really great place to be a part of\u2026 and now I get to make it my professional home,\u201d she shared. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked what she was most excited for at Pace, Hight mentioned how she is looking forward to getting to know the students. \u201cI mean, that\u2019s the best part,\u201d she said. \u201cThat’s the part that fills my bucket. I want to be a part of all this great stuff that’s happening at the school. It’s really inspiring work and so to be a part of that and be able to lead in that position is just a real honor.\u201d Beyond the community and students, Hight also is excited about the community and connection among the three schools. \u201cI think Pace [does] a great job of making this campus feel not so big and feel more connected and that is something that I’m really excited to be a part of. I can still have some part in the upper school and middle school and in all aspects of the school because it’s not quite as sprawling or too big for me to not be a part of.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an experienced educator, Hight mentioned how her favorite part of working with students is their great ideas. \u201cJust ask a child and they will come up with amazing ideas to problems and that\u2019s something that always blows my mind. They’re not as blocked by experience that adults can feel and they come up with really surprising, innovative ideas. I think there’s a lot of opportunity for student voice (in teaching) and that’s what I’m really looking forward to (at Pace).\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the classroom, Hight stays busy with her first grade son and enjoys the variety of activities that Atlanta has to offer. \u201cMy son and I go to a lot of sporting events and are big Braves, Hawks, and Falcon fans\u201d she noted. Hight also enjoys the many festivals and concerts that come to Atlanta, such as Broadway shows at the Fox. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
