Dozens of artists submitted their songs, albums, and records for the chance of winning a highly coveted Grammy. Established in 1959, the Recording Academy&#8217;s Voting membership includes music producers, artists, songwriters, and engineers who vote and decide which artists will be awarded the privilege of a nomination or grammy.&nbsp; Some of the most anticipated awards include Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Pop Vocal Album, Rap Song, and Rap Album. But what would happen if Pace students voted on the award? The winners will be announced on February 4, 2025.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nominations for Album of the Year include, Beyonce\u2019s \u201cCowboy Carter\u201d, \u201cNew Blue Sun\u201d by Andr\u00e9 3000, Jacob Collier\u2019s \u201cDjesse Vol. 4\u201d, Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s \u201cShort n\u2019 Sweet\u201d,&nbsp; \u201cThe Tortured Poets Department\u201d by Taylor Swift, \u201cThe Rise and Fall of A Midwest Princess\u201d by Chappell Roan, Charli XCX\u2019s \u2018BRAT\u201d and Billie Eilish\u2019s \u201cHIT ME HARD AND SOFT\u201d.&nbsp; The majority of the Pace Students who responded to the poll wanted this award to go to \u201cHIT ME HARD AND SOFT\u201d.&nbsp; \u201cI fell in love with the album the first second I heard it. The songs feel very eerie and angelic, and I love anything by Billie Elish\u201d said freshman Elizabeth Romig.&nbsp; The album was produced, recorded, and written by the brother-sister duo. Billie Elish has a total of nine Grammys and her brother\/producer, Finneas has a total of eight. Released on May 17, 2024 Elish\u2019s album includes ten songs, the hit singles off the album includes, \u201cBIRDS OF A FEATHER\u201d, and \u201cLUNCH\u201d. Along with winning \u201cAlbum of the Year\u201d voters agreed Billie Elish should also be awarded with \u201cPop Vocal Album\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Record Of The Year&#8221; is based on a specific recording of a song that also recognizes the artists, producers and engineers who made the recording. The year\u2019s nominees include, \u201cFortnight\u201d by Taylor Swift and Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar\u2019s \u201cNot Like Us\u201d, \u201cGood Luck Babe!\u201d by Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s \u201cEspresso\u201d, \u201c360\u201d by Charli XCX, \u201cNow and Then\u201d by the Beatles and Beyonce\u2019s \u201cTEXAS HOLD \u2018EM\u201d. Due to its popularity and clever lyrics, Kendrick Lamar\u2019s \u201cNot Like Us\u201d earned the most votes with 33.3%, with Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s \u201cEspresso\u201d falling just behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While many get \u201cRecord of the Year\u201d confused with \u201cSong of The Year\u201d, \u201cSong of the Year\u201d is graded on the lyrics of said song as well as the composition. Nominees for this award include many of the previous for \u201cRecord of the Year\u201d, with the exception of \u201c360\u201d, \u201cEspresso\u201d and \u201cNow and Then\u201d. The additional songs on this list include, Shaboozey\u2019s \u201cA Bar Song (Tipsy)\u201d, \u201cPlease Please Please\u201d by Sabrina Carpenter\u201d, and Billie Elish\u2019s \u201cBIRDS OF A FEATHER\u201d. According to Pace students this award should be granted to Billie Elish\u2019s \u201cBIRDS OF A FEATHER\u201d. \u201cThe song is so catchy and the lyrics are really sweet,\u201d mentioned sophomore Kitty Lubin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students decided that the grammy for best \u201cNew Artist\u201d should be awarded to Sabrina Carpenter. Carpenter\u2019s rise in the music scene can be attributed to her hit songs, \u201cFeather\u201d, \u201cNonsense\u201d, and \u201cEspresso\u201d along with the release of her popular album \u201cShort n\u2019 Sweet\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Switching genres, Kendrik Lamar\u2019s \u201cNot Like Us\u201d wins best rap song of the year, earning over half of the votes with 54.2%. This song blew up over the summer and now has over 896,344,738 streams. \u201cRap Album of the Year\u201d was given to \u201cWe Don&#8217;t Trust You\u201d by artists Future and Metro Boomin, with features by The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, and Rick Ross. Released on March 22, 2024, the album with its 17 songs, has well surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, marking a major accomplishment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, the winners of&nbsp; \u201cPop Duo\/Group Performance\u201d went to Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars\u2019 \u201cDie With a Smile\u201d. Nominated among other artists such as Gracie Abrams, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Brandy, Monica, Billie Eilish, and Charli XCX. The duet is categorized as soft rock, a blend of pop, soul, country, and rock with a similar sound to sounds to the 1970\u2019s pop rock. \u201cThe ballad is truly moving and such a fun listen, I really hope it wins,\u201d said sophomore Eloise McDonald.
