Recently, HBO Max released the first season of \u201cPretty Little Liars: Original Sin.\u201d With the arrival of this new spin-off, critics are questioning how it will compare to the original show, \u201cPretty Little Liars.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPretty Little Liars\u201d was extremely popular in the 2010s amongst teens. The show follows the story of high school friends, Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily, as one of their closest friends, Alison, vanishes. The girls begin to receive anonymous threats from the terrorizing \u201cA,\u201d threatening to expose all of their secrets. Their journey to find the truth about what happened to Alison and who \u201cA\u201d was went on for seven seasons until it ended in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After \u201cPretty Little Liars\u201d ended, there were two different spin-offs that came next, \u201cRavenswood\u201d and \u201cPretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.\u201d Even with the original\u2019s popularity, the spin-offs did not last long and only ran for a season before being cancelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even after the disasters of the last spin-offs, the new member of the franchise, \u201cPretty Little Liars: Original Sin,\u201d is hoping to change its fate. This story features a whole new group of girls that are not related to the characters in the original show. This new series has been a hit after its first season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two shows do not have any of the same characters, but there are still many similarities. Both shows have a group of girls that are being threatened by an anonymous person that goes by the name \u201cA,\u201d but this character is not the same in the two shows. Some differences are the characters, the town and the trauma experienced by the characters. Also, throughout the first season of the new series, there are some references to \u201cPretty Little Liars,\u201d but they are not very obvious. Lastly, another similarity between the shows is the iconic intro music of the original show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPretty Little Liars: Original Sin\u201d features five girls, Imogen, Tabby, Noa, Faran and Minnie, who are all connected by the lies of their mothers. These unlikely friends come together to figure out the truth about what happened the night of a suicide and how it connects not only to their mothers\u2019 past actions but to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
