Track and Field Had Great Showing at Spartan Classic
This past Friday night some of the track and field athletes competed in the competitive Spartan Classic at GAC. Sophomore Sam Webb ran a PR of 4:58 in the 1600. Freshman John Catherman had a great showing in the 9th/10th grade 100 meters.
Juniors Sam and George Adams proved to be the dynamic duo in the 800 meters, going sub 2:00 and going 1-2 in the event. Sophomore Laura Romig ran a PR in the 800 meters, placing as runner up with a 2:26.
Sophomore Alexander Swann had a great 300 meter hurdle race going when he clipped the top of a hurdle, nearly going down. He quickly recovered and wasn’t far off of his PR. Juniors Payton Payne and Paula Sandoval went 1-2 in the 3200 meters with Payne tying her PR and Sandoval beating her PR and going sub 12:00.
Freshman Edward Blaha went sub 10:00 again in the 3200 meters while freshmen George Blaha and Robert Mallis almost nipped it going 10:01. For Mallis, this was a lifetime PR.
The Knights’ next meet is Wednesday at Riverview where we will celebrate our seniors. Region is the following week over at Westminster on April 25 and 26.
