Summer is quickly approaching, and with that comes increasing temperatures and humidity. If you are looking to get out of the sun and cool off in a movie theater with some good entertainment then these upcoming titles will definitely provide what you are looking for.

Neighbors 2: “Sorority Rising”, May 20

As a sequel to the famous 2014 movie, “Neighbors 2” revisits the college scene when a crazy sorority house moves in next door to characters played by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. Since they are expecting soon, the loud parties and obnoxious college girls are unwanted. So, Mac (played by Rogen) and Kelly (played by Byrne) call their former enemy and frat boy, Teddy Sanders, played by Zac Efron. The three of them scheme and strategize a plan to force the sorority girls to leave, which will be harder to do than they expect.

“Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass,” May 27

Following the previous 2010 film, “Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass” pictures Alice returning to the playful world of Wonderland to try and rescue the Mad Hatter. Starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Mia Wasikowska as Alice, the movie travels through time and many different places. Alice is given a clock and returns to the past, reliving memories and encountering old friends. With limited time, she races to save the Mad Hatter before time runs out. 

“The Conjuring 2,” June 10

For the courageous movie-goers, the “Conjuring 2” brings back all of the dangerous supernatural phenomena that was included in the initial movie. Lorraine and Ed Warren, played by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, are paranormal investigators who travel to London to assist a helpless mother of four kids who is experiencing haunting spirits in her home. The fact that the story is based on real events adds to the creepy factor.

“Now You See Me: The Second Act,” June 10

The Four Horsemen, a group of mind-blowing illusionists, execute a comeback performance one year after outsmarting the FBI. They come face to face with a new foe who insists on them pulling off their most dangerous and daring heist yet. This movie includes tons of gravity-defying and shocking magic tricks that will definitely wow the audience.

“Finding Dory,” June 17

People have been waiting for this movie since “Finding Nemo” premiered in 2003. This childhood classic has touched the hearts of its audiences and “Finding Dory” hopes to be no different. Voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, the forgetful fish Dory reunites with her friends Nemo and his dad, Marlin. This takes place six months after the action in the initial movie, and Dory has just recalled her childhood memories. The trio will now travel on an adventure and find Dory’s mother and father, all in 3D.

“The Purge: Election Year,” July 1

The third movie in “The Purge” series, this film takes place in the year 2025. The Purge is a one night event where all crime is legal for 12 hours. The head candidate, played by Elizabeth Mitchell, vows to eliminate the Purge after having a previous troubling experience. However the government enjoys the Purge, and secretly opposes her candidacy. During the annual Purge, she is forced to flee to the streets and must spend the terrifying night fighting for her life.

“The Legend Tarzan,” July 1

Another remake of this popular film, this modern take features Margot Robbie and Alexander Skarsgard as Jane and Tarzan. After leaving the jungle, Tarzan takes up a normal life in London under the name of John Clayton III along with his wife. However upon being invited to Congo, he becomes caught up in a revenge plan headed by Captain Leon Rom, played by Christoph Waltz.

“Ghostbusters,” July 15

Thirty-two years after the original “Ghostbusters” came out, this adaptation has a modern twist. Four women, a paranormal researcher, played by Melissa McCarthy; a physicist, played by Kristen Wiig; a nuclear engineer, played by Kate McKinnon and a subway worker, played by Leslie Jones, join forces despite their background differences. When spooky phenomena invade Manhattan, the four of them battle this demon who is possessing humans.

“Star Trek Beyond,” July 22

This sci-fi action film is the sequel to the 2013 picture, “Star Trek Into Darkness.” Overall, this highly-anticipated movie is the 13th film in the large Star Trek series. The USS Enterprise Crew, led by Captain James T. Kirk, played by Chris Pine, is being attacked by a strong, determined group of aliens. Captain Kirk and his crew are now stranded on an unknown planet and are forced to fight against a new enemy.
