Speed Dating
French B students practiced new vocabulary about shopping for clothing and recycled old vocab with an activity we call “speed dating”. Students spend 1-2 minutes facing a partner before moving to another desk, in a circular pattern. On each desk they find a card that matches the card their partner has, giving them a task to accomplish through negotiation with their partner and practice. The next day, students were quizzed on one of the card sets, chosen at random.

Fall Semester 2014
I haven’t had a great deal of time to update the blog regularly this semester….busy schedule this year! But that doesn’t mean we haven’t been having fun and learning a lot in French class so far! Here are a few pictures…French 1 Upper Schoolers playing a vocab game where they have to grab the card I call out before the other people in their group, French B 7th graders doing some “color by number” sheets I picked up in Montréal over Fall Break, and French A 6th graders working with partners to practice the subject pronouns with a “tic tic boom” game and also working cooperatively to practice correct word order by reassembling different mixed-up sentences on their desks.

Espion Secret
French B students presented themselves as an imaginary ESPION (spy) they had created as a review activity. They practiced adjectives, describing the character traits and physical traits of their undercover persona along with things like where they live and languages they speak along with what they do in their job everyday, things they are going to do as a spy and things they “just did”.

Mettons la table!
French B students are learning the vocabulary for place settings and reviewing how to give commands. We had fun practicing these skills as a whole class and with a partner, creating masterpiece sculptures with plastic and paper dishware.
