Navire de Guerre – Create a grid. The rows have subject pronouns and the columns have a verb. Students play battleship with a partner. I usually do two boats with 2 squares and one boat with 3 squares, any direction.
Bataille – Create two stacks of cards (pronouns and verb pictures). Students work in groups of 3. One student is the “juge” – they flip one card in each stack and the other 2 compete to formulate the necessary verb conjugation or other phrase (je + picture of someone selling a house = je vends) …the judge decides who wins the point (best pronunciation of verb conjugation, fastest etc.)

French B students practiced using a variety of adjectives and reviewed how to give someone’s name, age, hair and eye colors by imagining WANTED posters for French characters they created. I also provided them with a list of fun “new” adjectives to use as a reference for now and in future assignments. Their posters, designed with a partner, turned out great!

French B students were learning French verbs with accent changes recently. We illustrated how the accents make a pattern when the verbs are conjugated by making “shoe” posters in class. Students were assigned two different “boot” or “shoe” verbs by drawing cards from a shoe!

Today, thanks to Jeb and his dad, we had a special guest visit us from La Côte d’Ivoire during our C period class. Madame Eugénie is visiting the United States to help her son celebrate his PhD. She spoke to us about the difficulties of obtaining a visa to come to the United States, about her village, the foods eaten in her country, and her previous work helping mothers have their babies in the local hospital. Through her hospital work, she learned to understand 15 different languages so that she could help people communicate! Nous vous remercions d’être venue nous parler de votre vie, Madame. C’était un vrai plaisir de vous avoir parmi nous ce matin et nous vous souhaitons un très bon retour dans votre pays.
