Tofuburgers! Learning the negative in French A.

My 6th graders have gotten very creative with their sculptures depicting the 3 parts of a negative verb: NE/N’ + conjugated verb + PAS.

We have a carrousel, a map of North America, a bed, a basketball hoop, dynamite, a French flag, a butterfly with leaves attached, a Pace castle, and more!

French B students practiced vocabulary, grammar, and geography of French-speaking West Africa today with an activity designed to have them work together in teams to think about French in context as they solved a puzzle we call “Le Serpent”.

Coorperative work, Human Clocks: Quelle heure est-il?

French A students practiced telling time last week with small clocks and also with giant “human” clocks that they created together following a rubric with specific instructions.

Fall Semester 2014

I haven’t had a great deal of time to update the blog regularly this semester….busy schedule this year!  But that doesn’t mean we haven’t been having fun and learning a lot in French class so far!  Here are a few pictures…French 1 Upper Schoolers playing a vocab game where they have to grab the card I call out before the other people in their group, French B 7th graders doing some “color by number” sheets I picked up in Montréal over Fall Break, and French A 6th graders working with partners to practice the subject pronouns with a “tic tic boom” game and also working cooperatively to practice correct word order by reassembling different mixed-up sentences on their desks.

Collaborative, Kinesthetic Practice: Adjectives

French C worked with a partner or in a small group to work through 40 trios (in 10 sets) of articles/nouns/adjectives in a race against the other team.  They had to understand how to make the adjectives agree with the nouns and the correct position of different adjectives in relation to the noun.Screen Shot 2013-10-02 at 2.46.38 PM Screen Shot 2013-10-02 at 2.46.56 PM Screen Shot 2013-10-02 at 2.47.17 PM Screen Shot 2013-10-02 at 2.58.49 PM
