We’ve practiced a lot of mini-conversations and used teamwork to discover things about French class and the French room. We’ve all made Quizlet accounts that we will be using the rest of the year to practice vocabulary.  French B & C students have been getting back into the swing of things with a variety of review learning activities.

Eiffel Tower

French C Honors playing the “Eiffel Tower” game.  Each group of 3-4 has a “juge” with all of the questions and answers.  Players compete to write the correct answer (as determined by the “juge”) and are allowed to climb up one spot on the Tower for each correct answer.  If no players get the right response, the “juge” climbs up one spot.    Screen Shot 2015-01-22 at 11.55.27 AMScreen Shot 2015-01-22 at 11.55.19 AM

Coorperative work, Human Clocks: Quelle heure est-il?

French A students practiced telling time last week with small clocks and also with giant “human” clocks that they created together following a rubric with specific instructions.

French A Lockers

Students in French A have been learning about gender, articles, and vocabulary for the classroom. This week they worked in teams of three to make giant lockers. They could put anything in their locker from our vocab list…including a teacher!

Fall Semester 2014

I haven’t had a great deal of time to update the blog regularly this semester….busy schedule this year!  But that doesn’t mean we haven’t been having fun and learning a lot in French class so far!  Here are a few pictures…French 1 Upper Schoolers playing a vocab game where they have to grab the card I call out before the other people in their group, French B 7th graders doing some “color by number” sheets I picked up in Montréal over Fall Break, and French A 6th graders working with partners to practice the subject pronouns with a “tic tic boom” game and also working cooperatively to practice correct word order by reassembling different mixed-up sentences on their desks.

We’ve learned vocabulary for describing paintings and our wonderful art teacher, Mrs. Sibley came to talk to us about Impressionism so that we would be prepared for our field trip to the High Museum to view an exhibit of Cézanne and other French artists. A link to the photos taken by Mrs. Inman (francophile herself) is below. Special thanks as well to Mrs. Pottorff and Mrs. Eichenlaub who organized lunch at Café Lapin and drove the group!

French C Honors Videos

We watch a feuilleton that goes with our text (T’es Branché) in class.  Here are some short memorized conversations from the show.

Espion Secret

Screen Shot 2014-11-23 at 4.03.00 PMFrench B students presented themselves as an imaginary ESPION (spy) they had created as a review activity.  They practiced adjectives, describing the character traits and physical traits of their undercover persona along with things like where they live and languages they speak along with what they do in their job everyday, things they are going to do as a spy and things they “just did”.
